Biography

Marie Léa St. Amour, daughter of Honoré and Alexina (Prevost) St. Amour, was born 20 or 21 February and baptized 28 February 1906, Ontario.^[1]

She married J.B. Gagnon on 12 October 1925 in Fall River, Massachusetts.^[1]

They were living in Fall River, Bristol County, in 1932 when Jean (John) Baptiste Gagnon, her husband, registered as a naturalized citizen^[2] and were noted as living there in 1935 in the 1940 census.^[3]

She died, a widow, in Middlesex, Connecticut on 10 February 1992.^[4] She's buried at Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River, Bristol County, Massachusetts, USA.^[5][6]

Research Notes

She wrote her name as "Leah",^[7] although her baptism record shows Léa.^[1]

Ancestry information included birth in Massachusetts, citing the 1910 & 1920 census records for "Fall River Ward 6, Bristol, Massachusetts".^[8][9] This does not seem logical considering that she was baptized in Ontario shortly after her birth.^[1] The 1940 Census shows her birth as Canada.^[3] Her SSDI also shows birth in Canada.^[4]
